The Best of Belmont Shore: Our Local Favorites
If there’s one Long Beach neighborhood that perfectly captures the Southern California lifestyle, it’s Belmont Shore.
Beach days, morning coffee, dinner on a patio, a stroll down 2nd Street, and a quick stop for something sweet—you can do it all without getting in your car. That walkability, combined with the beach and bay, is what makes the Shore feel less like a place you visit and more like a place you live.
With so many great local businesses, we decided to share a few of our Belmont Shore favorites.
☕ Best Coffee Stop
Sheldrake Coffee Roasting is a Belmont Shore classic. It has been part of the neighborhood since 1976 and has that cozy, old-school coffeehouse feel that makes you want to stay awhile.
For something a little more modern, Stereoscope Coffee on 2nd Street is another favorite for specialty coffee and creative drinks.
🥐 Best Morning Treat
Colossus is one of our favorite spots when we're craving really good bread and pastries. Their sourdough and laminated pastries are worth the stop—and they're perfect to grab before heading down to the beach.
🍽️ Best Dinner on 2nd Street
There are almost too many good choices!
Nick’s on 2nd is a great go-to when you want something a little nicer without feeling overly formal. As featured in our best salad in Long Beach IG series, Nick's Kale and Quinoa salad with salmon is IT! Saint & Second is another favorite for a lively dinner, cocktails and a great 2nd Street atmosphere.
And if you're craving Mediterranean, Open Sesame has been a Belmont Shore staple for years and is always a fun choice for sharing plates with friends and family- do not sleep on the lemon potatoes with garlic sauce!
🍝 Best Longtime Local Favorite
Domenico’s Italian has been serving Belmont Shore since 1954 and is one of those places that feels woven into the history of the neighborhood. Sometimes the best restaurants aren't the newest—they're the ones that generations of locals keep coming back to.
🏖️ Best Beach Day
One of the best things about living in Belmont Shore is having options.
You can head toward the ocean for a beach day, or our favorite, the peninsula (68th to be exact!), walk or bike along the shoreline, or head toward Alamitos Bay for calmer water. Rosie's Dog Beach is also a local favorite for four-legged family members.
❤️ Best Part of Belmont Shore?
Honestly, it's hard to choose just one.
It's the feeling of walking down 2nd Street and running into someone you know. It's grabbing coffee in the morning, walking the beach in the afternoon and meeting friends for dinner that evening—all within minutes of home.
It's the small businesses, the beach, the bay, the sidewalks filled with people and dogs, and the feeling that there is always something happening.
That's what makes Belmont Shore so special—and why so many people who live here can't imagine living anywhere else.
Have a favorite Belmont Shore spot that we missed? We’re always looking for new local favorites!
